The raw yet infectious debut single 96 Tears, with its signature organ melody, was originally released in 1966 and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on October 29 that year. Question Mark and The Mysterians' eponymous debut album followed in October 1966 and made it to #66 on the Billboard charts. It contains 96 Tears as well as ten other original tracks including the Top 40 hit I Need Somebody and a cover of T-Bone Walker's Stormy Monday.
Just eight months after the release of 96 Tears, the second album Action was released in June 1967. It contains a mix of original songs and cover versions, including Can't Get Enough of You, Baby written by Denny Randell and Sandy Linzer. The cover version of Question Mark and The Mysterians reached #56 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Action would be the band's last studio album for more than three decades.
